Peer Support Training and WRAP

NorCal MHA, WISE U
My focus is to be a leader/teacher in the Mental Health field for all clients and family members. Building a new professional career field in National Peer Certification and peer emploment integrated in all aspects of Mental Health and Substance Use recovery treatment.

I have had the pleasure of training over 50 individuals in numerous areas of expertise including Peer Support planning, Group Facilitation techniques, Managing Up ( training your manager to manage you), Ethics and Boundaries in the mental health field, Recovery Principles of individuals struggling and succeeding with their recovery efforts. I also have held my Advanced Level Certification in WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Planning) for over 6 years. I have put on WRAP workshops all over Placer Co California working along side the Adult System of Care, Placer CO Substance Use Treatment Services and the Re-Entry Programs involving individuals from Veterans Court, Mental Health Court and Drug Court. as well as training over 300 individuals and families in the values and ethics of the WRAP model. All seeking services to better their lives and assist them in their efforts to find and maintain stability, recovery and advancement in education and employment.

In addition to being a training specialist, part of my duties include being an employment mentor for those who wish to go back and work in the public mental health or substance use field. With my 11 years of knowledge in working in the Public Mental Health system at both Placer Co. and Sacramento Co,California, I have learned how to work with several multi-disciplinary teams as well as other non- profits in the local area. Understanding how the focus of services delivery can be affected by the department treatment system, county contracts, contract deliverable, and program restraints. This is essential to understand and appropriately navigate and mentor those who are trying to work within the California Peer Support career movement. To be able to successfully assist new and established paid employees and volunteers, in delivering the top benefits for treatment, success, guidance, and peer supports for the clients, individual, families and systems we serve.
